CBS Films Casts Dylan O’Brien To Star In AMERICAN ASSASSIN

With actor Dylan O’Brien currently sidelined due to injuries sustained a few week ago on the set of Maze Runner: The Death Cure, only time will tell when production will be back up and running. Those reports have stated his injuries were much more serious than initially thought and so he will need time to hell, but that still leaves some prospects open for the actor with the current film franchise development of Vince Flynn’s popupar “Mitch Rapp” novel series at CBS Films.

Thus, it is now being reported via Deadline that O’Brien is in negotiations for said role in the forthcoming adaptation of American Assassin. Stephen Schiff adapted the script from Flynn’s 2010 novel – an origin story among the 14 books that focuses on Rapp, a counter terrorism operative who takes to task for a series of covert operations for the CIA following the death of his financeé. O’Brien will be joined by Award-winning actor Michael Keaton who will play Stan Hurley, a shadowy figure directed by the CIA to train and recruit the grieving Rapp for such operations, amid a plot that will ultimately join them with a Turkish agent to help foil a terrorrist plot that could start World War III.
Filming starts this Fall with Michael Cuesta directing, Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Nick Wechsler producing, CBS Films overseeing and Lionsgate releasing. Maze Runner: The Death Cure, directed by Wes Ball as the third of YA sci-fi trilogy of novels, currently remains slated for a February 2017 date which could change with O’Brien’s recovery now underway.
