Chadwick Boseman To Star In MESSAGE FROM THE KING

The pending France release of filmmaker Fabrice Du Welz‘s Alleuia later this month is currently getting a warm welcome from the states in lieu of his newly pending American debut, Message From The King. Moreover, it comes with much benefit to the director’s momentum combined with the addition of the film’s newest lead, actor Chadwick Boseman, whose career earned a major boost upon boarding Marvel’s platform just a few weeks ago.

The way the film is set up is already appealing as it follows Boseman in the title role of Jacob King, whose story is told in the remaining six days left on his one-week visa after learning of his missing sister’s death within the first 24 hours after he arrives from South Africa to Los Angeles with little more than $400 dollars in his pocket while looking for her; Presumably, this puts Boseman in potentially one of the most exciting roles a movie goer could look for, and with a director like du Welz coming off of his latest cop thriller, Colt 45, one can suspect Message From The King to be a definitive crowdpleaser. An official statement from co-producers/financers The Ink Factory regarding their vision for the film, bearing a few good classic titles in mind.

We are inspired by the great thrillers of the late 1960s and 1970s; films like ‘Point Blank’, ‘The French Connection’ and the work of Paul Schrader. These films are entertaining, taut and uncompromising, and explore the darkness at the heart of their protagonists. ‘Message From The King’ is a conflicted love letter to their adopted city, written by two outsiders in a strange land.

International sales agent eOne is also co-financing and co-producing the film with a script by producer Stephen Cornwell and co-writer Oliver Butcher, with Simon Cornwell and David Lancaster also producing. Boseman will also be executive producing with Ash Shah while Marchand and Benedict Carver, Senior Vice President, Filmed Entertainment, oversee production which is expected to commense next February.

Boseman‘s expected in-costume appearance as Marvel superhero Black Panther will get its screen debut in Captain America: Civil War, as well as a standalone Black Panther film on May 6, 2016 and November 3, 2017, respectively. The actor will be appearing before then in helmer Alex Proyas’ Gods Of Egypt on February 12, 2016.
