The Chicago Cinema Society was formed out of our immense love for cinema. We have been very fortunate to have been able to track down and screen 35mm prints for films that we love that have been thought to be lost and/or no longer exist. On April 13th, we will be sharing with you one such 35mm print: RIKI-OH: THE STORY OF RICKY

We have so much love for this film and cannot be happier than to be able to share this print with you. Come out to the Patio Theater to see one of the best live action manga translations ever committed to celluoid! One of the most charmingly gory films of all time! There is one night only to be able to see RIKI-OH and that is April 13th! This might be the only chance in your lifetime to be able to see this 35mm print, DO NOT MISS IT!!!

The film is a live-action adaptation directed by Lam Nai-choi and based on of the classic Japanese graphic novel written by Masahiko Takajo and Saruwatari Tetsuya. The film stars seasoned Hong Kong actor and action star Fan Siu-wong in the title role as a man who sets out avenge the suicidal death of his girlfriend at the hands of street thugs, only to end up in a maximum security prison. While behind bars, he is forced to brutally defend himself against the worst of the worst, using his superhuman strength, technique and fighting abilities, ultimately to become a champion in the eyes of his inmates. His newfound fanfare and reputation catches the attention of the crooked prison ward and his sadistic team of trained killers, and with the lives of his fellow inmates at stake, Ricky must use all the strength he can to survive the torture to come and win the ultimate battle of superhero vs. supervillain in a bloody and gory duel to the finish.
