CONSTRUCT: Robot Dad Battles To Save His Robot Family In The Incredible Sci-Fi Short Now In Feature Growth At Automatik

It was about a week ago that filmmaker and Blur studios cohort Kevin Margo premiered his new sci-fi rescue thriller short, Construct. PR movement on social media began as far back as 2014 so you can pretty much guesstimate the duration at which a project like this needed to grow and nourish before being applicable on screen.

As such, the results are what you now see in the near-12 minute dissemination via Vimeo. For this, Deadline brings a detailed update on its feature film progress with word that Fred Berger (La La Land), Brian Kavanaugh-Jones (Midnight Special) are revving up their efforts Automatik with Alexander & Lee’s Brandon Millan also producing.

Margo will make his directorial debut from a script by Marcos Gabriel that sets Construct in a world divided in upheaval between humans, and the robots that encompass the lowest socio-economic class. Therein lies the story of Aiden Connolly, a working man now forced to inhabit a robotic form to rescue his son – kidnapped by a desperate father working with a rogue band of A.I.’s.

Nightfox is financing with further backing by Nvidia, Google, Chaos Group, Optitrack and Boxx. Margo’s previous VFX credits include Thor 2: The Dark World and video games like The Division and the Batman Arkham series, as well as the leaked pre-viz that paved the way for Tim Miller’s on-going 2016 smash hit success story, Deadpool whose own Phillip J. Silvera shepherded the stunt and fight coordination in the concurrent shortfilm. Click the image below to view it.
