Cuarón's DESIERTO Releases In The U.S. This October

It won’t be long before we catch director Jonas Cuarón reteaming with actor Gael Garcia Bernal in costume for a more modernized take on Zorro in the new movie, Z. In the meantime however and by the time the cameras start rolling, audiences outside festival reach will finally get to see their most recent paring for the October 14 release, Desierto.

SYNOPSIS:

From Jonás Cuarón and Alfonso Cuarón, the acclaimed filmmakers of Gravity, comes a unique, modern vision of terror.  Desierto is a visceral, heart-pounding suspense-thriller packed with tension and suspense from start to finish, starring Gael García Bernal (The Motorcycle Diaries and Y Tu Mamá También) and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen).

What begins as a hopeful journey to seek a better life becomes a harrowing and primal fight for survival when a deranged, rifle-toting vigilante chases a group of unarmed men and women through the treacherous U.S.-Mexican border.  In the harsh, unforgiving desert terrain, the odds are stacked firmly against them as they continuously discover there’s nowhere to hide from the unrelenting, merciless killer.

Produced by Cuarón who wrote the screenplay with Mateo Garcia, Bernal is joined by actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Alondra Hidalgo. STX Entertainment acquired the film late last year upon its win for the International Critics’ Award at the Toronto International Film Festival, and will close the L.A. Film Festival on Thursday evening.
