Cut this however which way you want, but Denzel Washington is about to put a new thriller together with director Christopher McQuarrie according to Deadline’s Justin Kroll. The project is being set up at Amazon MGM Studios and United Artists from a script by Scott Barkan and Gregg Zehentner penned the script, and we also have a release date stamped for October 1, 2027 as well.
The film also has a logline. Per the report, the movie “follows a former police detective serving a life sentence who is diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. Granted compassionate release with six months to live, he returns home to the estranged daughter he left behind and a grandson he never knew existed. He only wants to make amends and forget his dark past. But his dark past has not forgotten him.”
What we don’t have is a title. That’s about the only thing that escapes us here, but with a project featuring the man who headlined Antoine Fuqua’s The Equalizer trilogy and the helmer behind the latest round of thrills in the Mission: Impossible films from 2015 through 2025, I’m convinced this will be a seller.
