How’s this for another ‘triple threat’ of sorts?

Actors and action superstars Scott Adkins and Marko Zaror will reunite for Diablo, from director Ernesto Diaz Espinoza, which rolls cameras later this year in Chile. The film teams Adkins up for the first time with Espinoza who has collaborated with Zaror on several genre hitmakers, firstly collaborating on 2006’s Kiltro which launched the Chilean martial arts star to leading man stardom.

Deadline’s Zac Ntim reports:

Plot follows Kris Chaney (Adkins) who, after being released from prison, embarks on a perilous mission to fulfill an old promise but finds himself in danger when he kidnaps Elisa, the daughter of a powerful gangster. Her father, Vincent, puts out a call to the entire criminal underworld to bring her back alive. El Corvo (Zaror), a psychopathic killer, joins the hunt not for the money but for his own vendetta against Vincent’s family. Kris must evade both Elisa’s powerful father and a ruthless killer bent on revenge to live long enough to tell Elisa the full story that has been hidden from her.

Film Mode Entertainment is handling international sales and is partnering with Wonder Street domestically. Both companies are producing from a script by Mat Sansom with Adkins and Zaror producing alongside Craig Baumgarten and Clay Epstein.

“We are honored that Craig, Scott, and Marco have put their trust in us to help achieve their vision for this truly remarkable project,” said Epstein. “Audiences are going to be blown away by some of the most unbelievable action sequences they will have ever seen. The realistic way Ernesto shoots stunts mixed with Scott and Marco’s insane talent is going to thrill the fans beyond their wildest dreams.”

Adkins added: “I’m very excited to be reunited with Marko Zaror and to be working with director Ernesto Espinoza for the first time on a wonderful script by Mat Sansom.”

Zaror, who lit up the screen twice before with Adkins in 2010’s Undisputed 3: Redemption and in Jesse V. Johnson’s 2017 action Savage Dog also with Cung Le, is coming off some of the hottest buzz his fans have ever seen of late with the Well Go USA/Hi-YAH! release of Espinoza’s Fist Of The Condor, for a which a sequel is currently in development.

Adkins, who has largely helped steer contemporary martial arts action entertainment since finding one of his biggest roles in Uri Boyka opposite Michael Jai White in Undisupted 2: Last Man Standing will soon appear in Egyptian actioner Matrah Matrouh, as well as James Nunn sequel, One More Shot also starring White, and Christian Sesma thriller Lights Out.
