Donnie Yen And Wang Baoqiang Trade Blows In A New KUNG FU JUNGLE Featurette

Writer and director Teddy Chen was on hand this past Sunday at the 58th Annual BFI London Film Festival with leading action star and actor Donnie Yen, and actress Michelle Bai for the premiere of the new film, Kung Fu Jungle. The fallout so far is a modest mixture of good and bad reviews, with specific mention toward the spectacular fight action and set pieces, in addition to Yen‘s on-screen charisma – all basically summing what appears to be a noteworthy effort for fans of Yen and the genre alike.

Yen leads the way opposite actor Wang Baoqiang in a story centered on a police martial arts instructor, convicted and sentenced to prison for the accidental death of an opponent, only to be conditionally set free in exchange for helping the police apprehend a martial arts serial killer targeting other martial arts masters. The catch? Yen’s character refuses to fight the elusive killer in defense of the martial code, but is forced to do so when the killer kidnaps his love interest, played by Bai.

For what it is worth, the reviews are faring mildly good, and other fans who have attended the festival seem to approve so far as well. Essentially, things are looking pretty good for moviegoers in China and Hong Kong who are eager to see Yen back on the big screen at the end of the month when the film releases. Until then, more promo clips and bits are on the way, including a new action-packed featurette highlighting our aforementioned dueling pair in their second appearance together since Iceman 3D earlier this year.
