Pakistani director Shamoon Abbasi was on par to attend a private screening at Cannes for his new film, Durj, until he’d announced he had to attend elsewhere to prep for the film’s campaign and select October 11 release. Luckily producer and co-star, actor Dodi Khan was on hand and managed to help get some traction with word that the film may see a worldwide rollout later this year starting in the Fall.
Durj (The Casket), billed as Pakistan’s first thriller and said to be based on true events of a rather grisly nature, sees actress Maira Khan in the role of a woman whose search for her missing husband pits her against a cannibalistic cult. Abbasi directs from his own script and also stars with actress Khan and actor Khan, along with actress Sherry Shah, and actors Nouman Javaid and Hafeez Ali.
