The official trailers are now online for Five By Five and Echo 8: Beyond, with official dates pending following an upcoming festival run. Maria Tran and Takashi Hara star in the films as well as direct from a script by Elizabeth H. Vu.
Five By Five continues the saga in prequel fashion, exploring the origins of the first film’s villain, Agent 5 (Hara), chronicling his grief-stricken existence and gradual spiral into chaos while climbing the organization’s hierarchy. The film also stars Ross Page, Anne Dao, Xiang Ma, and Wilson Zou.
Tran returns for the subsequent threequel in Echo 8: Beyond, as our titular heroine continues her quest in a larger, more dangerous world. Joining Tran on screen are actors George Basha, Damien Sato, Ashley Avci, and Kimberley Vo.
Hailing from Phoenix Eye Films, the inaugural 2023 release of Echo 8 became a massive indie film success from its $6,500 budget. The film continues to be a lynchpin moment for Tran and Hara as they trek the world, hosting workshops for other aspiring film professionals, using the Echo 8 trilogy as an exemplary boone for independent film.
