Celebrated actor Roschdy Zem is taking the lead this summer with French actioner Elyas, from director Florent-Emilio Siri. Studiocanal unveiled the official trailer on Tuesday for the new action thriller which also stars “Fauda” actress Laëtitia Eïdo, and is set to open in France firstly on July 3.
In Elyas, Zem plays the titular ex-special forces operative who suffers from PTSD after serving in Afghanistan. As the synopsis notes, Elyas, now working as a bodyguard, must stop at nothing to fend off a ferocious commando who’ve targeted the Emirati mother and daughter he was just hired to protect.
A Variety exclusive broke on Tuesday noting the title of the movie as “Fatum,” which could be the case for its domestic release, although I’m not certain. At any rate, the title card in the trailer below is Elyas, so I’m sticking with that if Studiocanal is.
