South Korea’s Plus M Entertainment is literally hours away from its release of director Lee Jong-pil’s new action drama, Escape. The film stars Lee Je-hoon, Hong Xa-bin and Koo Kyo-hwan and is readying a July 3 release in cinemas as of this post while Well Go USA plots its own theatrical rollout of the film this Friday in the U.S..
The film centers on a North Korean soldier whose careful planning to defect is upended by an on-base incident – one that forces him to act whilst under the watchful eye of a high ranking official with whom he used to be friends.
My review will be out in a day or so, while Well Go USA slates screenings for attendees for this year’s 23rd edition of the New York Asian Film Festival in the coming weeks.
