Explosive New SHANGHAI FORTRESS Trailer Pits Earth Against A Menacing Alien Onslaught

Teng Hutao’s sci-fi romance novel adaptation, Shanghai Fortress, is nearing an August 9 release after a few years of production and post. The official trailer is live as well and does bring something prospective in terms of visual spectacle aside from the rougher shots; the film is definitely banking on some of its Hollywood production muscle, including having folks like VFX supervisor Simon Carr (Oblivion, Star Trek: Into Darkness) and a raft of conceptual and storyboard artists who’ve worked respectively on films like Captain Marvel and upcoming Ad Astra to name a few.

Set in the future, the city of Shanghai China battles to defend itself against an ongoing attack by an alien force that has attacked and has laid siege to numerous cities around the globe in it’s quest to harvest a hidden energy only found on earth.

Starring are Lu Han and actress Shu Qi with Gao Yixiang, Shi Liang, Wang Sen, Sun Jialing and Wang Gongliang rounding out the cast.
