Teng Hutao’s new action sci-fi epic, Shanghai Fortress, is finally poised for an August 9 release in China. Times Vision picked up sales rights a little over a week ago at Cannes with the firm showing optimism for its roster of titles, particularly for the new film based on Jiang Nan’s 2006 novel of the same name.
Set in the future, the city of Shanghai China battles to defend itself against an ongoing attack by an alien force that has attacked and has laid siege to numerous cities around the globe in it’s quest to harvest a hidden energy only found on earth.
Starring are Lu Han and actress Shu Qi with Gao Yixiang, Shi Liang, Wang Sen, Sun Jialing and Wang Gongliang rounding out the cast. Peep the most recent teaser from February below and stay tuned for a trailer and some stateside release news as well.
