2020’s mid-pandemic record success for Netflix’s Sam Hargrave thriller, Extraction, led the way for further conversations on the future of big-scale stunts and ambitious action cinema. The pending sequel is now back in the headlines with none other than returning actor Chris Hemsworth to lead the way with another supercharged chapter that dives right back into the thick of things, upping the ante once more if the official teaser now online is any indication.
After barely surviving the
events of the first movie, Rake is back as the Australian black ops mercenary, tasked with another deadly mission: rescuing the battered family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from the prison where they are being held.
Joining Hemsworth are AGBO’s Russo Brothers – Joe and Anthony – back to produce with the former penning the script, following up its inspiration from the literary sourcing of Ande Parks’ “Ciudad”. Also starring are returning actress Golshifteh Farahani, and actors Adam Bessa, Olga Kurylenko, Daniel Bernhardt and Tinatin Dalakishvili for the film’s June 16 release.
