Broadway World has brought the official press release announcing the details of Pound Of Flesh helmer Ernie Barbarash’s new martial arts action thriller, Falcon Rising, courtesy of Freestyle Digital Media. A poster has been unveiled as well, headlining the new film with lead actor and action star Michael Jai White front and center for what could be the start of its own multi-film franchise.
Freestyle Digital Media (FDM) and Freestyle Releasing announce that they have concluded a deal to release the Brazilian-set action thriller FALCON RISING. The film, which stars Michael Jai White (THE DARK KNIGHT, SPAWN), Laila Ali (“American Gladiators,” “Daddy’s Girl”) and Neal McDonough (“Justified,” MINORITY REPORT), was produced by Etchie Stroh and Shahar Stroh, directed by Ernie Barbarash and is slated for a theatrical release on September 5th, 2014 with VOD bowing one day earlier. John “Falcon” Chapman, is an ex-marine anti-hero plagued with a terrible secret consuming him with guilt. On the self-destructive edge, he learns his sister Cindy (Laila Ali) has been brutally beaten in the slums or “favelas” of Brazil and travels there to hunt down her attackers. In the process he discovers an underground world of drugs, prostitution, and police corruption ruled by the Japanese mafia and protected by the powerful Hirimoto (Masashi Odate, THE LAST SAMURAI). The deal was negotiated by Etchie Stroh of Moonstone Entertainment and Mark Borde, Co-President of Freestyle Releasing.

Recent Freestyle titles include the box office hit GOD’S NOT DEAD, as well as recent titles Bottled Up with Melissa Leo, UNDERDOGS, with D.B. Sweeny and Natalie Imbruglia, TIGER EYES, the first big screen adaptation of a Judy Blume novel starring Willa Holland and the upcoming THE IDENTICAL starring Ashley Judd and Ray Liotta.
