FIVE-A-DAY COUNTDOWN: Outbreak Z, Plan B, Luc Van Tien, Nicky Larson, and Fighting With My Family

We’re counting down for a list of 100 titles to expect or hear more about in 2019! In case you haven’t been keeping up, we’re totaling 30 as of Monday. Here are the next five:

Outbreak Z: An action choreographer and stuntman fresh from his run with Netflix’s third and final season of Daredevil, Chris Brewster is setting forth on his feature directing action horror debut which commences filming later this year or early next year. The story sees Callie and Ethan lead their team through an overrun college in search of a man who has possession of a possible vaccine to the ‘Zombie’ virus. Hopefully this will be, at the very least, a late 2019 arrival as we await further updates.

Winter State Entertainment

Plan B: Lord knows what the actual North American title for this one will be when it actually gets a legitimate U.S. release. Ufuk Genc and Michael Popescu directed this trailblazing Euro-HK action comedy back in 2015 and finally got a local theatrical release last summer in Germany. It’s a prime piece of work from the hardworking earners of Reel Deal Action who’ve gone from operating in stunts and shortfilm work to fully-fleshed out feature film territory much like our aforementiomed Mr. Brewster above, and with hopes for a sequel, I’d certainly wish a U.S. company got off its thumbs to give this a proper platform instead of giving torrenters an excuse to cripple a worthwhile market.

Luc Van Tien: KungFu Hustle: Germany’s own Andy Long Nguyen himself came up in stunts. Having climbed the ladder to become one of top-tier stunt player following his induction into the Jackie Chan stunt club, his latest directorial debut is yet to hit stateside, starring in a modern twist about an ancient warrior in search of his true love. Packed with zany array of hijinks and topped with top notch stunt talent, this one can’t come sooner.

Nicky Larson: Actor and filmmaker Philippe Lacheau’s live-action City Hunter adaptation seems pretty brimming in humor that might seem cringeworthy in this day and age. It may be an acquired taste though – mainly for the folks keen on the original manga. February 6, 2019

Fighting With My Family: The extended wait will be over this February when Stephen Merchant’s feature debut at the helm hits the big screen. Co-starring and exec producing is actor Dwayne Johnson’s joining a principal cast that lists Florence Pugh and Jack Lowden in the biopictoral story of a brother/sister duo and their quest to become wrestling superstars.

The list continues tomorrow!
