40 is the number as of Wednesday in the course of our countdown listing 100 movie titles to look forward to in 2019. With a new day on the horizon, here are five more:
Tokyo Ghoul 2: Oddly enough a director hasn’t been named for the forthcoming manga adaptation sequelizing last year’s hit film from then-helmer Hagiwara Kentaro. At any rate, the film is in production from Shochiku, adapted from Ichida Sui’s hit dark fantasy manga about a student who, following the first film, must now cope with his new life as a half-ghoul. Date pending.
Kingsman 3: Matthew Vaughn is back in the directors’ chair for a third installment of the Kingsman franchise set to film early next year, after debuting a hit in 2016 inspired by Mike Millar’s graphic novels. Missing plot details notwithstanding – save for this being a “period drama” away from the snappy, contemporary and youthful tone of the first two films, you’re free to mark November 8 on your calendars accordingly… and possibly with Taron Egerton and Colin Firth returning…maybe? Collider has more on it so feel free to set your own benchmarks from there.
Vengeance 2: Director Ross Boyask will be sure to make his comeback in steady fashion following his proper ceremomy with the award-winning action thriller, Vengeance. Released as I Am Vengenace in the U.S. from Saban Films, actor Stu Bennett is set to reprise the role of ex-military-turned-black-ops badass John Gold for Vengeance 2 opposite the nefarious forces circling his latest villain, played by Vinnie Jones.
Angel Has Fallen: Former stuntman Ric Roman Waugh has earned himself some pretty sizeable directing credits in the past decace including Felon, Snitch and Shot Caller. Next year should see things finally come around with actor Gerard Butler’s action hero incarnation, Mike Banning, in the upcoming threequel where the Secret Service agent is framed, now running fugitive and fighting to save Air Force One. August 23
Rambo: Last Blood: Just after saying goodbye to Rocky, there’s also the Big Kahuna of sequels and fans of action star Sylvester Stallone will be certain to get their hands on a ticket ASAP. Adrian Grunberg directs the finale fittingly titled and setting our PTSD-suffering hero in Mexico to rescue his daughter from sex traffickers. Paz Vega and Yvette Monreal also star in the film which the star just wrapped his final scenes.
