FIVE-A-DAY COUNTDOWN: Unleashed, Split Lip, The Knight Of Shadows: Between Yin And Yang, The Rookies, and Yes, Auntie!

Almost at 100! Here are five more:

Unleashed: Directors Kwok Ka Hei and Ambrose Kwok are joined by producer Paco Wong to wager a new martial arts drama for next year. Sun Zhen Feng, Zheng Zi Ping, Venus Wong and Fire Lee lead the cast for a story about an underground fighter who sets out to defend his mentor’s honor against a former disciple, a former champion fresh out of prison. Chris Collins is on board as action director.

Split Lip: I first caught onto this particular project from director Christ Sheffield back in August. He’s been eight years in the making and now he’s rolling out the new action thriller this year. Actress Dorée Seay stars as a contract killer betrayed by her mentor and forced to do what she does best in order to clear her name. It’s getting a screening in January over in Glendale, California with other dates still pending, so advise hunting down the fanpage on Facebook to keep track.

The Knight Of Shadows: Between Yin And Yang: director Vash makes his debut for international action star Jackie Chan. The film centers on Chan in the role of a demon hunter defending humanity from a soul-eating entity. Kiefer Liu (The Monkey King trilogy) produces this adventure for its Chinese New Year release.

The Rookies: Before Milla Jovovich went monster hunting with Tony Jaa, she was on set for Firestorm director Alan Yuen’s riproaring adventure about a ragtag bunch on a whirlwind mission of espionage to stop a terrorist from using weapons of mass destruction. This film was supposed to be out last week in China though the lack of a fair trailer following a raft of character posters a few months back clearly characterize this as a wait-and-see for next year.

Yes, Auntie!: Actor and director Joey Min and his gang over at Art School Dropouts have grand plans for forthcoming second season of hit webseries My Asian Auntie, built on Min’s Madea-inspired cultural caricature imbued with the speed and grace of a kung fu master….and apparently with the voice of Celine f*cking Dion? Wow. But, yes, the second season arrives next year via their YouTube channel and will also make way as a feature film edit. Also starring will be Robert Samuels (H.K.S.A.) and indie action staple Leroy Nguyen among other appearances.

The list wraps up tomorrow!
