FROM VEGAS TO MACAU And ONCE UPON A TIME IN SHANGHAI Get Release Dates

FilmbizAsia is reporting a multi-territorial acquistion of writer and director Wong Jing‘s upcoming film, From Vegas To Macau. The report arrives months after the film was announced over the summer and completed with lead actor Chow Yun-Fat returning for his fourth appearance as the classic titular character from Wong‘s classic God Of Gamblers franchise.

News of the film’s acquistion was made at the top of the festivities with Hong Kong-based Mega Vision Pictures Ltd. closing deals with Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, in addition to talks for its Taiwan sale and its current allocation to China by way of of Bona Film Group. Produced by Andrew Lau, From Vegas To Macau makes its Asian debut on January 30, 2014 competing with Chow‘s upcoming role with Donnie Yen in The Monkey King the same weekend. Chow stars along with Nicholas Tse, Jing Tian, Kimmy Tong, Chapman To, Max Zhang, Benz Hui, Sammy Sum, Natalie Meng and Gao Hu.

The film also stars Mega Vision’s latest action lead and From Zero To Hero documentary star, actor Philip Ng who is currently featured in director Wong Ching-Po’s latest Shaw Brothers ode with action director Yuen Woo-Ping for Once Upon a Time In Shanghai, now making the rounds at the American Film Market a year and a half after releasing a concept trailer. The film sees Ng taking on a role of an immgrant from Shangtung who moves to Shanghai in pirsuit of a better life but ends up putting his kung fu to use in order to survive.

The film is also getting an Asian release in January 2014 with Andy On, Jiang Luxia and legendary action star Sammo Hung.
