Impetigore and The Siege At Thorn High director Joko Anwar is on track to get back to directing what he says is the movie we’ve been waiting for. I have my own ideas about that, while it’ll be at the 77th edition of the Berlinale that Anwar’s new horror comedy, Ghost In The Cell, will have its World Premiere.
Inside Labuan Angsana, one of the country’s most notorious prisons, survival is already a daily nightmare. Rival gangs and crooked, abusive guards leave little room for hope. But when an unseen force begins slaughtering inmates one by one, the prison descends into chaos. Now, killers, thieves, and conmen must do the unthinkable: work together to survive. Terrifying, bloody, and unexpectedly hilarious, GHOST IN THE CELL is a claustrophobic horror-comedy where no cell is safe—and laughter may be the last defense against the dark.
Anwar directs from his own script with a cast that rejoins him with his Gundala main, Abimana Aryasatya. Also starring are Endy Arfian, Bront Palarae, Morgan Oey, and Lukman Sardi.
A first look teaser arrived last week for the film to give folks an idea of what’s in store. On Tuesday, Anwar’s label, Come And See Pictures, launched a new international teaser which you can view below:
