GODZILLA: MINUS ZERO Teaser Surfaces To Terrorize Japan, New York, And The World!

Writer/director Takashi Yamazaki has every intent of blowing all the minds this year if his latest induction into kaiju cinema is any hint. For this, the first official teaser for Godzilla: Minus Zero has arrived following its debut at CinemaCon this week.

Actors Ryunosuke Kamiki and Minami Hamabe reprise their roles in the film – a direct sequel to Godzilla: Minus One which scored more than $116 million worldwide and won Best Visual Effects at the 96th Academy Awards becoming the first Asian film to take home the award. The film is set two years later as Japan faces an even deeper crisis, as well as the world. The following is a logline for the film that went viral back in January:

Following the devastation of Godzilla’s first rampage in Godzilla Minus One, Kōichi Shikishima is determined to lead a quiet life, rebuilding his family with Noriko and young Akiko while stepping away from the nightmares of war and monsters.

However, peace is short-lived when Godzilla returns—fully regenerated, larger, and more ferocious—while something ancient begins to stir beneath Aokigahara near Mount Fuji, endangering the fragile nation and forcing Kōichi to reconsider his promise.

With the stakes higher than ever, Kōichi reluctantly returns to the fight, teaming up with old comrades and U.S.–Japan alliance forces to confront the two kaiju and protect those he loves—especially as Noriko’s cellular connection to Godzilla strengthens, pulling her dangerously closer to the monster’s rage.

Toho is releasing Godzilla: Minus Zero in time for Godzilla Day on November 3 in theaters and IMAX, with GKIDS launching a wide theatrical release across North America beginning Friday, November 6.
