Rob Grant’s new film, Harpoon, was a terrific add to the summer’s roster during my debut Fantasia Festival coverage from home. My review is still up for grabs, but I’ll just say here and now that this project is one of the more limber, energetic titles of the high seas suspense genre with Munro Chambers in one of two impressive performances making the rounds this year – Jovanka Vukovic’s Riot Girls being the other.

Rivalries, dark secrets, and sexual tension emerge when three best friends find themselves stranded on a yacht in the middle of the ocean desperate for survival. With plenty of alcohol and very little food and water, emotions run high and their delusions become a reality. As the days stretch on and death seems inevitable, their terrifying truths float to the surface.

Chambers is joined by Christopher Gray and Emily Tyra for Epic Pictures Group now readying a theatrical and VOD release in select cities.

As of this report, folks in New York City’s Brooklyn area will be able to see the film between October 3 through 5 at the Nitehawk Cinema, as well as at the Film Noir Cinema on October 5. Harpoon will also screen at the Gateway Film Center in Columbus, Ohio on October 4, with The Frida Cinema in Santa Ana, California hosting screenings from October 4 through 10.
