HAVOC: Timothy Olyphant, UFC Fighter Michelle Waterson, Action Star Sunny Pang And More Added To The Cast

Director Gareth Evans (Apostle) shot his shot earlier this year with Netflix, scoring a major deal to produce several projects in a creative partnership with the streamer.

The first to come will be Havoc, as announced back in February with Tom Hardy and Forest Whitaker set to star. As of Monday, more names are being added to the roster including Timothy Olyphant (FX’s Justified, Disney+’s The Mandalorian), Justin Cornwell (CBS’s Training Day, Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy), Jessie Mei Li (Netflix’s Shadow And Bone, upcoming Last Night in Soho), Malaysia’s Yeo Yann Yann (Wet Season, Lee Chong Wei). In addition, actor Luis Guzmán will also star in a supporting line-up next to Quelin Sepulveda, UFC mixed martial artist Michelle Waterson, and The Night Comes For Us star Sunny Pang.

After a drug deal gone wrong, a bruised detective must fight his way through a criminal underworld to rescue a politician’s estranged son, while unraveling a deep web of corruption and conspiracy that ensnares his entire city.

As a noteworthy mention, Havoc marks a reunion of sorts for Guzmán who also appears in the Epix crime series, Godfather of Harlem, which stars Whitaker. I’m also excited to see Waterson in the mix following her own resumè build in film and TV, with a mix of stunt and acting credits in Fright Night (2011), Odd Thomas (2013), and a lead role in Courtney G. Jones’ Crossing Lines (2018). Singapore’s Pang, a versatile actor and accomplished stunt performer and trainer who owns and operates his own team in the region, is a cult favorite among followers of Asian cinema and action films, with additional credits like Malaysian filmmaker James Lee’s The Collector (2012) and Kill-Fist (2019), as well as Mo’ Brothers action thriller Headshot (2016) opposite Iko Uwais, and Ranjeet S. Marwa’s recently completed Exiled: The Chosen Ones.

Evans, best known for reviving Indonesia as a go-to for burgeoning talent in cinema with Merantau, The Raid and The Raid 2 and recently helped shepherd season one of Sky series Gangs Of London, will produce Havoc via One More One Productions along with Ed Talfan for Severn Screen, Aram Tertzakian for XYZ Films, and Hardy.
