HEAD RUSH: Victor Vu’s Long-Awaited Vietnamese Actioner Lands In The U.S. Later This Month!

Glass House Distribution

While some international titles remain forever in obscurity, you have to give credit to some companies who step up and take note. For this, we turn to the official trailer and poster below for the U.S. release of Head Rush, the Vietnamese sci-fi action thriller starring Cuong Seven (Tracer, The Immortal) in what now marks his U.S. home release debut.

A man dying of a terminal illness receives an experimental medical treatment and soon discovers he has superhuman powers. But the origins of the treatment are intertwined in a dark history that becomes unraveled in his life.

Glass House Distribution is kicking things off this week to promote the film’s U.S. release on Digital beginning December 27. Director Victor Vu, who previously worked with Seven on Tracer, also penned the script with Doan Nhat Nam and Kay Nguyen, and for a cast that also lists Tran Thi Nha Phuong and Ngoc Anh Vu, and action sequences by Vincent Wang (The Great Wall, Cruella).

The film’s promo campaign began in 2017 with screenings following suit at festivals around the world, and I managed to review the film in late 2018. Here’s an excerpt:

It doesn’t take long for the fight scenery to kick off either. Eight minutes in, you get a spectacular whiff of it in a foretelling fight sequence that’s very much bang-for-buck in action design, prefacing the forthcoming drama that looms. The remaining sequences lessen the extravagance some, but never diminish the volume and caliber of stunt work, swift technique execution in the choreography and overall pacing. Seven’s Tam makes swift work of laying waste to henchman at speeds often faster one can draw a handgun at a distance.
