‘Heavyweight’ follows wildcard boxing contender, ‘Diamond’ Derek Douglas, and his support team ahead of a title fight he doubts he can win. Director Christopher M. Anthony’s debut feature, Heavyweight, will serve as the opening feature for the 33rd edition of the Raindance Film Festival launching on June 18. Blackwater Pictures is handling its incumbent release ahead of its World Premiere with a cast led by Jordan Bolger (The Woman King), along with Jason Isaacs (“White Lotus”), and Nicholas Pinnock (“Top Boy”).
Producing are Kevin Harvey, Antoine Dixon Bellot and BAFTA-nominated Tiernan Hanby.
Speaking about the release, Producer Kevin Harvey said “We are thrilled with being chosen as the opening film at Raindance, HEAVYWEIGHT is a film that needs to be experienced, it truly is a diverse British film which explores a part of elite sport that is rarely seen”
Heavyweight also stars the film also stars Jamie Bamber (“Battlestar Galactica”), Sienna Guillory (Resident Evil: Retribution), Blake Harrison (The Inbetweeners) and Joplin Sibtain (“Andor”). Check out the trailer:
