STAR TREK: DISCOVERY Finds Its Captain In Jason Isaacs

I’ve kept up only here and there with what’s been happening on the upcoming CBS All Access series, Star Trek: Discovery but it’s great to see that the show itself is already in production as of late January with a cast lining up pretty nicely. Thus, the title ship now has its Captain aboard in actor Jason Isaacs according to Variety, following the addition of its lead star in actress Sonequa Martin-Green (The Walking Dead) who will play the ship’s lead lieutenant.

Others joining are James Frain who will play Spock’s father, Sarek, with Anthony Rapp as a space fungus expert, Terry Serpico as a high-ranking Starfleet official and Maulik Pancholy and Sam Vartholomeos in the respective roles of chief medical officer and Junior Starfleet officer aboard the Starship Shenzhou for which actress Michelle Yeoh, recently-added to Jon M. Chu’s Crazy Rich Asians, will play its captain – a fact that needs repeating since this was reported in November and people tend to forget.

Star Trek: Discovery hails from CBS Television Studios, executive producer Alex Kurtzman’s Secret Hideout, Bryan Fuller’s Living Dead Guy Productions and Roddenberry Entertainment. Former showrunner Bryan Fuller is also executive producing as are Heather Kadin, Gretchen J. Berg, Aaron Harberts, Akiva Goldsman, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth for the show’s premiere later this year.
