Well there’s no Billy Idol here, but the latest official trailer is here for director Neil Marshall’s very much R-rated adaptation of Hellboy coming in April. We have new posters as well but as almost always, there are two versions of the new Hellboy trailer out now – the green band and the red band versions, and you can best believe I’m featuring the latter here. Because we love red-bandy things!
Based on the graphic novels by Mike Mignola, Hellboy, caught between the worlds of the supernatural and human, battles an ancient sorceress bent on revenge.
As far as reboots go, I’m reminded of news that there’s actually one for DreamWorks’ Shrek franchise in the making as well as I just watched Shrek 2 last night; it often makes me wonder about the nature and overall faith by studios remaking Hollywood properties that have already earned the approval of fans.
Time will tell if Marshall’s Hellboy lives to tell the tale – like any reboot or remagining, I’m always willing to give it a shot. I’ll always be fond of Guillermo Del Toro though…his two films fleshed out some of the most heart a live-action superhero tale could tell.
Here’s to hoping Marshall can replicate!
