Hit Girl And Mother Russia Go Toe-To-Toe In A New Red-Band Featurette For KICK-ASS 2

We have another red-band clip promoting next week’s upcoming release of Kick-Ass 2, the hot new sequel starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson reprising his role as the urban neighborhood superhero who helps united other vigilantes to team up as the ultimate crimefighting force, Justice Forever. The clip below is a continuation of several red-band clips recently released in promotion of the upcoming film from Jeff Wadlow who is currently tied to the future theatrical production of X-Force.

Actress Chloë Moretz is back as the physically dynamic, slick-tongued, purple-clad crimefighter, Hit Girl who is featured in the following clip explaining the hotly-anticipated match up between her and Mother Russia, played by actress and bodybuilder, Olga Kurkulina. The clip also showcases bits of the action that we will see in the film, which was the subject of recent dialogue courtesy of Jim Carrey who plays Colonel Stars And Stripes in the film. It was Carrey‘s outspoken decision in back in June to abstain from promoting film citing sentiments over the tone of the film’s violence in accordance with the recent shooting tragedies that took place between late last year and this year.

Posting on Twitter at the time, he wrote “I did Kickass a month b4 Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence,… My apologies to others involve with the film. I am not ashamed of it but recent events have caused a change in my heart.”

A Friday article this month at Uproxx quoted actress Moretz (via The Wrap), who joined in the counterpoint argument with the film’s original graphic novel author, Mark Millar and the rest of the cast. “It’s a movie.” she said. “If you are going to believe and be affected by an action film, you shouldn’t go to see ‘Pocahontas’ because you are going to think you are a Disney princess,” the 16-year-old Moretz told the U.K.’s Sun.“If you are that easily swayed, you might see ‘The Silence of the Lambs’ and think you are a serial killer. It’s a movie and it’s fake, and I’ve known that since I was a kid … I don’t want to run around trying to kill people and cuss. If anything, these movies teach you what not to do.”

Kick-Ass 2 also stars Christopher Mintz-PlasseJohn LeguizamoDonald Faison and Morris Chestnut, and will release in North America on August 16, 2013.
