‘Hobbs And Shaw’ Director Has UNDYING LOVE Set Up At Studio 8

Image Comics

Just days away from the official trailer Fast And Furious Presents: Hobbs And Shaw, director David Leitch is marking a new foray into graphic novel territory with Undying Love, as reported by Mike Fleming Jr. at Deadline on Wednesday.

The Image Comics publication rolled out in 2011 from the minds of Tom Coker and Daniel Freedman. Warner Bros. Pictures initially nabbed the rights that year prior to hiring filmmaker Alex Aja, and then Joe Carnahan to direct the following year.

Fast forward to 2019 and the project is now in the hands of Jeff Robinov’s Studio 8 outfit. Production begins later this year from a script by Tommy Wirkola (Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, Dead Snow 1 & 2).

The film is described as “an action adventure story set for the ages” that melds Chinese folklore with brilliantly reinvented Vampire lore.

Here is how Image details things:

A horror-action tale, equal parts vampire mythology and Chinese folklore, set in modern day Hong Kong. Ex-soldier John Sargent has fallen for a beautiful Chinese woman named Mei.

The only thing keeping the star-crossed lovers apart: Mei’s a vampire. To free Mei from the curse, Sargent sets out to destroy the vampire that made her. The only problem: Mei was turned by one of the most powerful vampires in history…

Kelly McCormick and Stephen L’Heureux will produce with Robinov serving as exec producer.
