HOSTILES Reunites Christian Bale And Scott Cooper

Relativity
Director Scott Cooper and actor Christian Bale have gone on to gain quite a bit of notoriety after working together on the gritty 2013 drama, Out Of The Furnace. Cooper made waves with Johnny Depp-starrer, Black Mass while Bale received an Oscar nod Best Supporting Actor for his role in the 2015 financial crisis drama, The Big Short.

Between these we have a few years of space which ought to be plenty of time for both to consider getting back together for another outing and as such, the two will reunite for a new Western on the horizon now with Hostiles. Cooper revised the screenplay from an original draft penned by late writer Donald Stewart who co-wrote the 1982 film, Missing, as well as the Tom Clancy-inspired The Hunt for Red October and Patriot Games.

Set in 1892, “Hostiles” tells the story of a legendary Army captain, who agrees to escort a dying Cheyenne war chief and his family back to tribal lands. Making the harrowing and perilous journey from an isolated Army outpost in New Mexico to the grasslands of Montana, the former rivals encounter a young widow whose family was murdered on the plains. Together, they must join forces to overcome the punishing landscape and hostile Comanche tribes that they encounter along the way.

Jon Lesher and Ken Kao are producing with financing from Wayward Entertainment for production to commence this summer.
