Humans, Zombies And Demons Collide In Vincent Gatinaud's New Shortfilm, RESIDENT EVIL: THE NIGHTMARE OF DANTE
Lee B. Golden III
It has taken a couple of years for independent filmmaker, stuntman and stunt coordinator Vincent Gatinaud to see his latest vision for independent genre action film fandom come to life. Preceeded by a lengthy post production process that finally granted a trailer earlier this year, we now have a fully complete hybrid fan film in the form of Resident Evil: The Nightmare Of Dante.
Produced by co-stars Antoine Piquet and Clement Huet, the ambitious new shortfilm has been a passion project for Gatinaud who intended to show what a French independent filmmaker like himself could do with little to no money or sponsorship whatsoever. Gamer fans will also recognize the key characters and elements involved in the making of this fantastic new fan-generated spectacle combining the universes of the Resident Evil and Devil May Cry game series. And while you gaze at the thought of how amazing this is, just think if this is what an independent filmmaker who knows how to shoot action can achieve without a decent budget, imagine what one could do with such…food for thought while you take the next thirteen minutes and enjoy this cool little hybridized online gem, featuring the action stylizings of martial artist, actor, stuntman, producer and fight choreographer Kefi Abrikh who created the concept.
Also starring are Jessica Giusti, Hugo Barrillier, Christophe Borie, Jean-Charles Rousseau, Guillaume David, Augustin Jacob and Frédérick Mahé, accompanied by the European branch of Takanori Shibahara’s worldwide action network, Wild Stunts.
