It’s fair to say at this point that director Donovan Marsh’s new submarine war thriller, Hunter Killer, has seen quite its share of drama by now. The residual upheaval from the fallout at Relativity Media over bankruptcy in the last three years has since landed the film a new home at Summit Premiere with a theatrically release set for October 26.
Deep under the Arctic Ocean, American submarine Captain Joe Glass (Gerard Butler, Olympus Has Fallen, 300) is on the hunt for a U.S. sub in distress when he discovers a secret Russian coup is in the offing, threatening to dismantle the world order. With crew and country on the line, Captain Glass must now assemble an elite group of Navy SEALs to rescue the kidnapped Russian president and sneak through enemy waters to stop WWIII.
Arne L. Schmidt and Jamie Moss adapted the screenplay from the novel “Firing Point” by George Wallace and Don Keith.
Also starring are Oscar® winner Gary Oldman (Best Actor, Darkest Hour, 2017), Common (John Wick: Chapter 2), Linda Cardellini (Avengers: Age of Ultron), and Toby Stephens (Die Another Day), with actor Michael Nyqvist (John Wick) getting some posthumous screentime following his untimely death from lung cancer on June 27 last year.
