INVISIBLE MONSTERS To Become A Series

You might know the name Chuck Palahniuk as the author of the books Fight Club and Choke were based on. But now one of his novels is being adapted for TV.

Invisible Monsters, published in 1999, has been optioned by Fabrik Entertainment. Jennifer Yale will be adapting the novel. Yale has written for Outlander, Legion, and Dexter. The executive producers will be Henrik Bastin and Melissa Aouate, the CEO and President of Fabrik respectively. In a statement, Bastin and Aouate said,

“We are delighted to bring to life a book that has moved readers and built a devoted global following over the past two decades. This thrilling novel offers a rare combination of rich character work and shocking revelations that only Palahniuk can deliver, and in Jennifer Yale’s talented hands we are confident this will be an engaging, cinematic experience that will be sure to grab attention and make headlines.”

If you have not already read the novel, you should. Invisible Monsters follows Shannon who used to be a fashion model until an accident left her disfigured and unable to talk. Now the only attention she gets is not because she’s beautiful, but rather because she’s become a monster. While recovering, Shannon meets Brandy who is one surgery away from being a woman. According to the author’s website

“There are drugs, wounds, blood, fire, and new identities. Palahniuk delivers a dose of jilted beauty queens, messed up transsexuals, and twists on top of twists on top of twists. Invisible Monsters will only leave you wanting. Wanting what, I’m not sure. But you’ll want something.”

There hasn’t been any news yet on which network or streaming service will carry the show which means that you should have plenty of time to read the book if you feel so inclined. We will keep you updated as we learn more.
