Is A Fourth EXPENDABLES Filming Later This Year?

The trades haven’t said much, though international news outlets are being forwarded by Expendables fansite, Expendables Premiere, which suggest a fourth installment may commence filming as early as this November. Action star Sylvester Stallone is reportedly flying out to Colombia by then where principal photography will begin, with Bulgaria also slated through 2016 by way of NuBoyana Studios’s announcement.

The 2010 film, The Expendables led to a trilogical resurgence of popular R-rated action on the big screen with exception to last year’s PG-13 affair, and there have been but a few stumbles in that regard; The latter film ended up being pirated over a month ahead of its official theatrical release, an act questionably related to the fan response over the film’s watered-down rating, although the film did manage a global box office comeback to the tune of over $206 million dollars to overcome its domestic shortfall.

Other names mentioned in the Colombia arrival of stars are actor Morgan Freeman, trilogy co-star Arnold Schwarzenegger The Expendables 3 co-star Antonio Banderas, although official casting news is what is required at this juncture should any of these rumors be true (Freeman’s last known casting in an action role was Focus Features’s Down To A Sunless Sea as of July from a script by David Gleeson in the vein of Air Force One, and there’s no word yet on the plot or location of filming to date).

Hopefully these updates will be much clearer in the next few months so as to deduct speculation while we wait to see if other Expendables stars or potential candidates will join the fray. Stay tuned!
