After showing its character featurette for actress Jija Yanin, the official YouTube channel for Sahamongkol has unveiled its second character featurette for Tom Yum Goong 2, and from the looks of things, it appears that co-star, the RZA, will be more than a talking head in the new film. The featurette illustrates further details than what’s been available since the musician/director/actor appeared in the leaked trailer earlier this year, leading up to the official trailer thereafter.
Granted, some people have their opinions about the actor on film (my readers know I have my own), but I’m actually excited to see RZA this time, especially after seeing him in the reel going toe-to-toe with international action star Tony Jaa on the set, further advancing some of his screenfighting chops since his acting/directorial work on The Man With The Iron Fists. So, sure, this is a bit different, and some people are skeptical already about it. But for a sequel, and a villain we least expected to see Jaa screenfighting with, this could be good. We’ll see.
In other news, Jaa arrived stateside over the weekend and is on set in Georgia’s “Los Angeles” backdrop for director James Wan’s July 11, 2014 release of Fast And Furious 7. I suspect pics soon, so keep your antennas up for the latest.
Tom Yum Goong 2 arrives domestically in 3D on October 23, with further releases to be announced.
