JACK RYAN Heads To The Small Screen

Turning films into television series adaptations have become quite a thing as of late. Shows like Shooter, Limitless, Rush Hour, Galaxy Quest and Minority Report are all gaining a foothold for TV treatment away from their theatrical heyday,8 and at the rate we’re going, I wouldn’t be surprised if John Wick went to the small screen after its current theatrical growth.

Time will tell when that will happen if the trend remains, but at least fans of the popular Jack Ryan novels and films will have something to look forward to thanks to former Lost co-showrunner Carlton Cuse and scribe Graham Roland, who are currently preparing to bring Jack Ryan to full series fruition according to Deadline. Platinum Dunes, Skydance Media and Paramount TV are also in on the efforts along with executive producers from Carlton Cuse Productions and Roland, for a series that will transition the Jack Ryan we know from the big screen into a fully-fledged CIA analyst and operative inspired by late author Tom Clancy’s classic novels and the films they spawned.

I wonder who’ll get cast for this one. No doubt the usual textbook Bourne/Taken-style action will probably remain for the look of this new series, although hopefully there’s an actor suited for this kind of role away from the big screen.

Stay tuned!
