J.J. Abrams, WBTV To Produce 2000 A.D.'s BUTTON MAN For Television

With respect to Dreamworks’s own efforts, the plan to bring the popular 2000 A.D. comic strip, Button Man, to the cinematic forefront was long and arduous. This time though, it appears that Warner Bros. Television is working toward an adaptation for the small screen with J.J. Abrams’s Bad Robot shingle as of November, and now the official word is that production on a pilot episode is a go.

Writer John Wagner and illustrator Arthur Ranson launched the comic book publication with four books as of 1992 with a story centered on Harry Exton, an out-of-work mercenary living in the U.K. who gets drawn into a deadly game of survival where the grand prize can leave you either dead rich, or dead, period. Roger Kass (The History Of Violence), who has been involved with the project since its heyday at Dreamworks back in 2006 in lieu of a hopeful feature film at the time, is producing the forthcoming pilot with emphasis on the first book of the franchise, “The Killing Game”.
