Joel Kinnaman Plays A Father From Hell In New Thriller, BACKCOUNTRY, Now Filming

Actor Joel Kinnaman‘s latest thriller is releasing this Friday in the form of Jaume Collet-Serra’s Run All Night with leading badass Liam Neeson. In the meantime, Kinnaman has at least two other films he’s currently filming soon so far in Canada, the first which, as of last week sees the actor on the snowy end of Sudbury in Ontario for Backcountry, the new thriller from Drive Productions, JoBro Productions and global rights holder Tajj Media.

Backcountry is being directed by BAFTA winning debut director Rob Connolly from a script by producer Kyle Mann which The Wrap states goes a little something like this:

Kinnaman plays Elliot Baker, who seizes the chance to develop a better relationship with his sons when his ex-wife Karen (Rachelle LeFevre) and her new husband take a vacation and leave the boys with him. What starts as a bonding opportunity turns into a nightmarish adventure when they get stranded in a deserted cabin near the lake as night falls and a snowstorm rages. Bradley (Tom Holland) and Caleb (Percy Hynes-White) quickly learn more about their father and what they truly mean to him in this gripping tale of family and survival.

Michael Risley is co-producing with executive producers are Jeff Sackman and Jonathan Bronfman. Production is expected to wrap on March 28 prior to moving over to Pinewood Studios in Toronto to take the lead as Rick Flagg in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad for Warner Bros.

Kinnaman‘s next appearance will be alongside former Suicide Squad candidate Tom Hardy in Daniel Espinosa’s period crime thriller, Child 44 which arrives on April 17.
