JUNGLEE: Vidyut Jammwal Becomes ‘The Protector’ In The Official Trailer

Junglee Pictures/T-Series

If there was any indication that Kalari expert, actor Vidyut Jammwal was the next Tony Jaa, he made it pretty clear back in 2013 with the hit release, Commando. Fast forward to 2019 and Jammwal hasn’t gone anywhere with his star still lit and any number of projects possibly down the pipeline, and with none other than his latest, Junglee, which is clearly nodding to its fair sorts of nods to the Thai action star’s 2005 success, Tom Yum Goong (a.k.a. The Protector). It’s pretty unavoidable at this point. Complementary, even? Maybe?

Junglee is a family-adventure film, revolving around a vet, who on his homecoming to his father’s elephant reserve, re-unites with his childhood friend – Bhola, the elephant, and fights an international poachers racket.

The Mask helmer Chuck Russell makes his return here for its release on April 5 and also stars Pooja Sawant, Asha Bhat, Atul Kulkarni, Makarand Deshpande and Akshay Oberoi.

Of course, now this leaves us the question of whether or not Jammwal and Jaa will get together on screen. Considering their immense brevity and caliber as action stars who’ve honed in their skills well past their screenfighting prowess, I’d say top billing in a film for these two in a project of their own would be opportune and quite ripe for the taking.

Jammwal also goes full trilogy circle with Commando 3 on September 20, which certainly makes 2019 a banner year for the actor. Keep him on your radar and keep an eye out for this one as well as Junglee ahead of possible festival announcements.
