JUNGLEE: Vidyut Jammwal Becomes ‘The Protector’ In The Official Trailer
If there was any indication that Kalari expert, actor Vidyut Jammwal was the next Tony Jaa, he made it pretty clear back in 2013 with the hit release, Commando. Fast forward to 2019 and Jammwal hasn’t gone anywhere with his star still lit and any number of projects possibly down the pipeline, and with none other than his latest, Junglee, which is clearly nodding to its fair sorts of nods to the Thai action star’s 2005 success, Tom Yum Goong (a.k.a. The Protector). It’s pretty unavoidable at this point. Complementary, even? Maybe?

You’d be forgiven if you expected Tony Jaa to pop up at some point in the first official teaser for the new family action adventure, Junglee; The last five years of note have been especially prolific for action star Vidyut Jammwal whose caliber in stunt performance in films like Commando (2013) and its sequel and screenfighting have earned him equal praise and hype.

JUNGLEE: Vidyut Jammwal Seeks Vengeance In Thailand For THE SCORPION KING Helmer’s Latest
Anyone treading on airport grounds in recent hours might have spotted a certain Vidyut Jammwal awaiting a flight bound for Thailand this month. The move signals the latest progress for the upcoming action adventure, Junglee for the Commando star marking a first for The Scorpion King and I Am Wrath helmer Chuck Russell as production commences this year.
As Times Now reports per the film’s plot, Jammwal will play Ashwath, a big time veterinarian obliged by his grandmother to revisit his jungle home in Kerala in lieu of the tenth anniversary of his mother’s death. Upon rekindling his paltry relationship with his animal activist father along with that of his childhood elephant sister, Didi, and her cub, Apu, Ashwath finds himself thirsty for vengeance when poachers target his village, killing his father as well as Apu.
Given the obvious similarities with Tony Jaa’s stellar rollout via Tom Yum Goong, clearly a narrative like this will give Jammwal and Russell plenty of wiggle room, particularly for Jammwal who hit it big with Commando in 2013. Junglee Pictures is spearheading the new thriller currently reading a release in time for Dusshera on October 19.
