Writer and director Faruk Kabir is now two-for-two in his steering of the Vidyut Jammwal-led Khuda Haafiz franchise with the second installment set to arrive on July 8 from Zee Studios. The Hindi langauge action sequel has a trailer now running online as of a few days ago with Jammwal reprising his role opposite actress Shivaleeka Oberoi.
Sameer (Vidyut Jammwal) and Nargis (Shivaleeka Oberoi) after overcoming all odds, find a ray of sunshine when little Nandini enters their lives and their family is complete; But their happiness is short-lived. In a bizarre twist of fate, Nandini goes missing.
Finding their daughter is the only thing that matters to the new parents and Sameer will go to any length to protect his family. Join Sameer and Nargis in their “Agni Pariksha” as they face unthinkable adversities that push them to their limits.
“Agni Pariksha”, roughly translated means “Fire Test”, which I think reasonably sounds more appealing and marketable if its distribution in the West gets it rebranded as “Khuda Haafiz: Chapter 2 – Trial By Fire”. Maybe that’s the plan, but I’m still looking forward to this as I imagine anyone who’s a Jammwal fan at this point.
Kabir also designed and choreographed the action sequences with the team including Jammwal himself, and choreographers Yannick Ben and Amin Khatib, and the trailer certainly delivers some of this in its +2 minute duration. Brooding, intense and full of muddy, hard-hitting action.
