KPOP DEMON HUNTERS Sequel In The Works At Sony And Netflix

Yes, I’m a forty-something anime fan, and you can bet I enjoyed KPop Demon Hunters when it released this summer, frankly more than I thought I would. Maggie Kang and Chris Applehans directed the Sony Pictures Animation production which Netflix then rolled out in June, which follows a trio of KPop popstars who defend the world through the power of song.

The movie is now a cultural phenomenon, and as also become the streamer’s most-watched English language film of all time beating out the Dwayne Johnson/Ryan Reynolds two-hander, Red Notice. Thus, on Tuesday, word via the trades is that talks are underway between Sony and Netflix for a sequel. Specifically, THR‘s Pamela McClintock notes, the helmers “have spoken in the broadest of strokes about a possible sequel,” while the more crucial end of it hinges on what happens between the two labels.
