Poised for a World Premiere at the twenty-first edition of Fantastic Fest on Friday is Kung Fu Deadly, the new martial arts comedy from director Fergal Costello. Coverage is currently making the rounds at several trades but I’m happy to share some of these assets on this end ahead of actor and comedian Steven He’s latest feature outing.

Austin, TX – Sketch comedy content creator Steven He takes his first bow as a leading man with Kung Fu Deadly, a vibrant adventure set on the streets of Dublin. The supernatural ass kicking comedy will world premiere on September 18th at Fantastic Fest, the largest genre film festival in the US, specializing in horror, fantasy, sci-fi, and action movies from all around the world.
Social media sensation He headlines the film alongside newcomer Michael Tient. The two star as a pair of bumbling exterminators who must put down their poison spray to face an ancient evil bigger than any rat. Kung Fu Deadly also stars Gemma Chua-Tran (Heartbreak High, Netflix’s Gundam), Jason Tobin (Warrior, the Fast and the Furious franchise) and Max Huang (Mortal Kombat 1 & 2, Hidden Strike) and Steve Wall (Dune: Part Two, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms).
Kung Fu Deadly is an Ireland–Australia Co-Production under the Films Co-Production Agreement between the Government of Australia and the Government of Ireland. The film is financed by Fís Éireann / Screen Ireland in Association with Parc Entertainment Capital, Screen Queensland, Coimisiún na Meán and Chop Shop Post.
Kung Fu Deadly was directed by Fergal Costello, best known for his BAFTA Award winning short Brain in Gear. The film was written by Paddy McDonald (Predestination), who produced with Nicholas Cooper (Zombie Plane). Renowned stunt coordinator Lee Huang (Dune: Prophecy, Warrior Nun) served as action director.
As he prepares to show the film to its first audiences, Costello said, “Directing Kung Fu Deadly with this cast and this crew and this script has been the highlight of my career and I can’t wait for audiences at Fantastic Fest to get in on the high-kicking, high-adventure ACTION!”
