KUNG FU KILLER Lands DVD/BD And Digital Release Dates!

I initally had to pass up reviewing action star Donnie Yen‘s most recent bit of Well Go USA martial arts fanfare, Teddy Chen‘s Kung Fu Killer, when I went to see it at AMC Empire 25 back in April. I ended up catching a late showing and by the time the movie was over, I was dead tired and couldn’t put together any words for a review – as much as I try to be a night person, I fail miserably.

Nonetheless, I’m pretty sure most of you have heard the buzz and read the reviews by now. Or if you were lucky, you may have even seen the film. Trust when you read my writing here saying that the fandom behind this movie since last Fall has been well worth it, as a cinematic rumble of martial arts madness by way of an Alex Cross murder mystery that doesn’t let up when the fighting starts, as well as an honorable homage to the iconic and hardworking figures of Asian martial arts cinema who all helped make this movie happen. And, it won’t be too long before the film’s forthcoming digital, DVD and Blu-Ray releases this July.

I’m hopeful to have a more intricate review up before then, but note the details in the press release below meanwhile.

PLANO, Texas. When a vicious serial killer targets top martial arts masters, convicted criminal and kung fu master Hahou (Donnie Yen) is the only one with the skills to stop him. Released from jail and into police custody, they soon have their doubts about Hahou’s true allegiance, causing Hahou to be hunted by an unstoppable killer (Wang Baoqiang) and the entire police force. Louis Fan (Flying Swords of Dragon Gate), Wang Baoqiang (Iceman) and Charlie Yeung (Bangkok Dangerous) also star for Director Teddy Chen (Bodyguards & Assassins, The Accidental Spy) in the action-packed drama that won “Best Action Choreography” at the 2015 Hong Kong Film Awards. Bonus features on KUNG FU KILLER include a behind-the-scenes featurette that explores the making of some of the key sequences.

Synopsis:

A vicious killer stalks the streets of Hong Kong, methodically executing top martial arts competitors. Xia (Donnie Yen), a convicted killer and kung fu expert, offers to help police find the killer and put him behind bars – in return for his own freedom. The killer eludes them again and again, taunting the cops – and Xia, his new target – to discover his next moves. Xia refuses to play his lethal game…until the killer threatens the woman he loves most.
