‘Legend’ Director To Tackle BUTTON MAN For Netflix

2000 A.D.

Well over a decade since the long-gestating adaptation of 2000 A.D. comic strip, Button Man, it looks as if the wheels are finally turning with an announcement from Netflix for a full-on film adaptation from writer/director, Academy Award winner Brian Helgeland (Legend).

Button Man tells the story of ex-military contractor Harry Exton. The first true hero of the post-truth age, Harry’s a proxy in a clandestine competition among the super rich. Paid to fight to the death in modern-day gladiatorial contests, Harry sets out on a relentless journey to use these twisted elites’ own dark machine to bring their corrupt world crashing down.

The news comes just over two years since J.J. Abrams and Warner Bros. Television were expected to take the reigns for a series long since Dreamworks’ own efforts began in 2006.

6th & Idaho’s Matt Reeves, the current shepherd for all things The Batman over at Warner Bros. Pictures, has a first look deal at Netflix for his production company. He will produce with Adam Kassan, RingTheJing Entertainment’s Roger Kass, and Addictive Pictures’ John Schoenfelder and Russell Ackerman.

Button Man creators John Wagner and Arthur Ranson are exec producing with 6th & Idaho’s Rafi Crohn, and John Wagner and Arthur Ranson. Will Janowitz serves as co-producer.
