LOTUS: Cast Lines Up As ‘Shadow Transit’ Director And Star Reunite This Fall

Act3 Studios HK

A Fall shoot is expected to start for action thriller, Lotus, reuniting director Pedring Lopez with his Shadow Transit star, actress and singer Qymira. The news adds to Lopez’s work slate with the two also set to rejoin in 2028 for historical actioner, A Thread Of Steel, according to Variety’s Naman Ramachandran on Monday.

The cast also joins Qymira with headliners Cuba Gooding Jr., Luke Ford, and Keith Duffy. The project hails from ACT3 out of Hong Kong, and the Philippines-based Blackops Studios Asia whose Lopez penned the script with longtime production partner Rex Lopez, and are producing alongside Maia Yambao-Lopez, with Leslie Loh exec producing for Act 3.

“This film is bigger, darker and even more ambitious, and I’m excited to be part of a story that connects Manila and Brazil in such a visceral way,” Qymira said. “Brazil has also held a special place in my heart especially after having performed at the Salvador Carnival and released several Portuguese and English songs with local artists which topped the Bahia radio charts, so bringing those worlds together in this film feels incredibly personal.”

“This is a film designed for a global audience but rooted in the energy and chaos of Southeast Asia and Latin America,” Lopez said. “We want ‘Lotus’ to feel dangerous, emotional and alive, the kind of film that throws you directly into its world.”

Rounding out the current cast are actor-producer Cristian Lavin, and Brazilian actor Alberto Cowboy of “Big Brother Brasil” fame. Stunt/fight coordinator Sonny Sison (Shadow Transit, Maria, Nilalang) will steer the action sequences, assembling a team of stunt players from Hong Kong, the Philippines, and the U.S., with cameras rolling in September in Manila and Brazil.

Plot details are under wraps.
