Lucas Till To Reprise MacGYVER For TV

80’s television action favorite, MacGyver, is slowly coming back into fashion nowadays as the last five months have proven positive for the character’s resurgence back to the mainstream. CBS is working on a television adaptation of the character while Lionsgate has since followed through with an announcement this year for a feature film to finally come to fruition and my guess is as good as yours as to how thing could turn out for both, whether they tie in to each other or act as seperate entities from one another.

It’s a big move but speculative at best, for now, so things are slowly taking shape for both prospects in the meantime, and with word that actor Lucas Till (Wolves, X-Men: First Class, X-Men: Days Of Future Past) will revive the character on the small screen after a week-long casting process.
via THR:

CBS’ MacGyver is described as a reimagining of the television series of the same name. It follows a 20-something MacGyver (Till) as he gets recruited into a clandestine organization where he uses his knack for solving problems in unconventional ways to help prevent disasters from happening.

Actor Joshua Boone has also been cast to portray the role of Gunner, MacGyver’s best friend. David Von Ancken will direct the pilot from a script by Paul Lee Colaizzo and Brett Mahoney, and will executive produce alongside the original show’s creator Lee Zlotoff, original series executive producer Henry Winkler, and Atomic Monster’s own Michael Clear and James Wan. Till joins up a handful of regulars and newcomers in Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse for its premiere on May 27 from Fox.
