MAN’S SON: Frank Grillo Thriller Casts Up As Voltage Launches Sales To Buyers

Just after wrapping Isaac Florentine’s Hounds Of War, actor Frank Grillo is setting sail with occult thriller, Man’s Son. Production kicks off this month in Yucca Valley, California, marking the feature directing debut for noted cinematographer Remy Grillo.

The film also stars Jamie King (“Black Summer”), and Tangled actors Katherine Hughes and Josh Plasse, and is now adding Will Peltz (Unfriended), Sarah Dumont (Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse) and Sydelle Noel (Netflix’s “Glow”) to the cast.

Voltage Pictures is launching international sales on the pic ahead of the Cannes Marche du Film next month and is introducing the film to buyers immediately, as announced on Tuesday by Voltage President & COO Jonathan Deckter. XYZ Films has since acquired North American distribution rights.

Inspired by real life California desert occult activity, Man’s Son centers around a young couple who travel to the desert to create an authentic audition tape for an up-and-coming Charles Manson film. But when the couple chooses an eclectic Airbnb as the perfect backdrop, the dark events of the audition slowly slip into reality as the couple finds themselves intertwined in the sinister plot of an occult leader (Grillo).

Dare Angel is producing the film in partnership with Mi Nene, Hooligan Dreamers and Margate House Films; Plasse also penned the script with Brev Moss, and is producing with King, as well as Shakira Barrera, Conor Allyn, Jake Allyn, Benjamin Anderson, Fabio Lo Fria, Johnny James Fiore, Jaime King and Emma Comley. Bobby McMichael, Chido Nwokocha, Nidal Kahl and Dennis Echelberger all serve as exec producers.

“Voltage knows this business and this genre better than anyone else in the business,” said Jake Allyn. “We’re excited to be back in partnership with such a talented group.”

“Remy’s vision for this terrifying, grounded thriller had us hooked from the start,” said Deckter. “Conor, Jake and Frank delivered an incredible film with No Man’s Land, so it’s great to be back on board with the team, representing their latest work in the international marketplace.”

Peltz is repped by Innovative Artists and Management Production Entertainment. Dumont is repped by Buchwald and 831 Entertainment.
