MARIO WARFARE Gets A Theatrical Online Release This Fall

Made through trial and error and the many blessings of their fans and Kickstarter backers alike, it was back in 2012 that indie cult film studio, Beat Down Boogie, achieved a major milestone toward an ambitious new webseries attributed to the Super Mario franchise. Fans now know this series as the award-winning epic saga, Mario Warfare, directed by Dogs Of Chinatown helmer Micah Moore and running in eight parts as of last summer with Matthew Sumner and Jarod Kearney starring as our two beloved plumbers now forged in the heat of combat as Bowser and his goons lay claim to the Mushroom Kingdom.

SYNOPSIS:

Bowser’s airship fleet wreaks havoc on the Mushroom Kingdom. The King is missing, presumed dead. The princess is on the run. A couple of plumbers answer the call of duty and sign up to fight. Now Mario, Luigi, and a team of old school video game characters are thrown into the gritty new world of first person shooters.

To call this a live-action adaptation of the said game would be missing the mark almost completely. Each series brings homages to classic tropes of the Nintendoverse, and in the good graces of high-energy storytelling, gun-fu fights and martial arts action with a product especially made for the gaming, film and cosplay community.

It’s taken several years for this entire project to come to fruition, and as a thank you earlier on, Kickstarter backers snagged a DVD containing a full movie version of Mario Warfare to their delight. That version will finally air in the next few months on the official Beat Down Boogie Youtube channel where you can now catch a trailer to help start things off. Alena Koch, Brian Lee, Eric Jacobus, Rick Burnett and late actor Anthony Robinson also star.
